We\u2019re hiring a dependable <strong>Store Clerk<\/strong> who knows great customer service, moves with urgency, and enjoys sharing product knowledge with shoppers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Core Function<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Greet customers, answer product questions, and deliver friendly, efficient checkout using the POS.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Receive, stock, and rotate inventory (FIFO); set up merchandising\/price labels; maintain clean, safe aisles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist with deliveries, backroom organization, and basic store opening\/closing tasks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Handle cash\/card transactions, returns\/exchanges per policy; keep accurate till counts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support online\/phone orders, curbside pickups, and simple social media tasks (e.g., posting a product arrival or promo).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow food-safety, sanitation, and temperature-log procedures (coolers\/freezers).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Report hazards, incidents, or customer issues promptly; uphold our service and safety standards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>2+ years<\/strong> in retail grocery or similar customer-facing role.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confident with <strong>POS systems<\/strong> and basic cash handling.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Able to <strong>lift up to 50 lbs<\/strong> and stand\/walk for extended periods.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Clear Criminal Record Check.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Current or recent training: <strong>WHMIS<\/strong>, <strong>AODA<\/strong> customer service, <strong>Ontario 4-Step Worker H&amp;S Awareness<\/strong>, <strong>Workplace Violence &amp; Harassment<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Food Handler Certificate<\/strong> (or willingness to obtain within 30 days).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong <strong>customer-service<\/strong> skills; \u201cpeople person,\u201d patient, and helpful under pressure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knowledge of <strong>Caribbean products<\/strong> or a fast learner with genuine interest.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Punctual, reliable, committed<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Comfortable using and understanding <strong>social media<\/strong> for simple in-store updates (we\u2019ll train on brand tone).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience with inventory counts, merchandising plans, and receiving.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Basic knowledge of allergens\/dietary preferences (we\u2019ll train).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Familiarity with Oshawa\/Durham community events.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Compensation &amp; benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Competitive hourly pay<\/strong> (based on experience) + <strong>4% vacation pay<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>10% staff discount<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How to apply<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Email your <strong>resume<\/strong> info<strong>@tropixtingz.ca<\/strong> (subject: <em>Store Clerk \u2013 Your Name<\/em>) <strong>by Friday, January 10th.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tropix Tingz West Indian Market<\/strong> is an equal opportunity employer.
